ReSpeed Crossmember and Rack Kit

Very Nice This is deffinately on my things to get list. I just have to get my brakes upgraded first and save a little more $$$. right now my Ser 5 turbo is almost sitting on my idler arm bushing. This should solve the problem

Thats what worries me.The S4 turbo had lots of room, but the S5's wastegate bulge puts the idler arm mere millimeters from the scorching hot turbo.
I was able to grind and shave a fair amount of material from the idler arm to make clearance and some room for a little heat sheild when I had stock steering. The CP R&P kit solved the clearance issues altogether, but Ive always wanted to upgrade furthur.
If the pass. side tension strut bracket doesnt stick out furthur than the stock idler arm,it should be OK.It would be better if it were 1/4"-1/2" narrower than the factory idler arm mount.

Yeah, it's right there on it. I am using the stock heat shield with a turbo blanket underneath. I had to cut out a little square from my heat shield to keep it from making contact with the idler arm bushing but I have a couple of squares of the exhaust wrap between the turbo and the stock heat shield. Had I known that I would have this problem, I would of used the series 4 turbo instead but I sent out my series 5 to BNR for the upgrade. If this RP kit can solve the problem, that will be reason enough for me to buy it!

It's a pitty it'll be out of reach for us in Europe. With those parts shipping will be way to to steep, and even if I'd get around that I'd have to pay 35-36% import taxes on it. Plus, if they see that at the inspections, they'll just about crush the car right away ( can't change steering or brakes overhere, even I have done the brakes, I doubt I can get away with steering mods like these).
I didn't even yet think of that S5 turbo being so close to the iddler arm though. Need to adress that somehow then...

Man Billy,
Another sweet item I have been waiting for!
Can't wait for mine to be ready. These three weeks are gonna be the longest three weeks ever.
Now to get the 12a out of there, paint the engine bay and make it all ready for the turbo project.
The respeed front swaybar, big brake kit, coil over kit, etc. will all be a nice touch to this SA of mine.
Can't wait.

Also, here is the pic of the clearance dimensions for turbo guys. Basically from the top bolt down 3" it protrudes 2.5". From the top bolt down 5" it starts to protrude 3.5"

I think it is in the way of a standard power steering pump but the AC is above that, IIRC. Do I have that backwards?

As for turbo clearence, I'm not at home, does anyone know the dimensions of the stock idler arm? Like above I had to do a bit of trimming to fit my S5 turbo setup in there....

Just off the top of my head,it looks like it'll fit.
The wastegate bulge should tuck nicely into the area above the link mounts, where it tapers back to the top bolt.Right about where the red 3.0" mark is, in the picture.
RotaryRevn's first 3 pics give you a good shot of where the wastgate bulge sits relative to the idler arm and its mount bolts.

Thanks, I've just got a few things left, then I can break in the motor.
Billy, are you gonna have a car with the kit installed at Sevenstock? Or maybe one of you guys are planning to have it installed and at Sevenstock? It will be nice to see it in person.

What is the estimated time required for installation?
Is it possible to get a copy (via PDF or something) of the instructions?
I'd like to see what I'm getting into beforehand.

As far as time. Hugely depends on your mechanical skill level. Just don't plan to do it in a day. I am sure it could be done but why rush it?

We will have the assembly manual in a few weeks before the first unit ships. When it is complete you can download it from our website, along with all of our assembly manuals -> www.re-speed.com/forums

Thanks for the info. I'd really like to review the instructions and/or see an assembly write up. So, I'll be checking your website regularly.
In regards to time required, I'm not looking to get it done in a day, but looking for a shop time estimate. I'll probably puss-out and have a shop install it.

We can build the units without rack mounting hardware and leave it up to the customer to source a rack and fab the mounting. -Or- We would be happy to deliver a finished part if the customer supplies us with a proper rack. The rack placement is critical as well as the width of the inner pivots. It is not going to be easy to source a RHD rack that meets what we need I am afraid. Unless Ford sold a RHD vehicle based on the "fox" chassis overseas. That would be the best place to start.

Billy,
Maybe you won't be able to source anything from here, but I have money that you can probably be able to source something from England that is off an old ford or something similar. Also in england alot of classic cars are very well supported by alot of aftermarket companies. I might say the best thing to do migth be something like calling up one of the Magazines of classic cars from england. There's a couple good ones that I read every so often, and they know they're stuff very well.
