Replacing Water Pump and Fan Blade today any tips?
My waterpump is shot and my fan blade got chewed up by the shroud from the looseness of the waterpump at high rpm so im going to replace it with an electric fan. I left my haynes manual back at school so I was wondering if there were any tricks to getting the fan off easily and whether or not it requires some kind of special pulling tool. The waterpump should be a pretty simple replacement right?
Nope just a 10 mm wrench and a 12 and a 14 as well. If you have a lot of trouble getting the nuts loose on the flange to the water pump pulley you can use a pair of channel locks to hold the spacer in place. If you dont want to mark up the spacer (its soft aluminum) you can put a rag or something in the jaw of your channel locks.

Well today was really productive. Got the Waterpump done and seemingly leak free (i'll check the driveway tomarrow). Got the E-Fan (generic victoria british) on and working perfectly, it seems to move a lot more air than the stock one. Everything was really easy. We even took off my a/c compressor and that heavy *** bracket and all the lines (at least 30lbs+ off the car). We also managed to fix my loping idle by blocking some stuff off. now Im running off only 1 belt. Debating whether I should run the double alt pulley or not (i don't really have any power so I think it will be ok to just run 1 belt at least for a while). It's great when your car goes from undrivable to running better than ever in 1 day. However I did smell some raw gas under the hood so I probably have a leak somewhere yet to find.
