Rejoining the FB world, quick ?

Im selling the 2 cars that I have that have payments and buying a "beater" that I can drive everyday and still have fun with. We are looking to get a new house so I want all my payments gone. I haven't owned an RX7 in a long while, but Im thinking a GSLSE is the car for me. I like the idea of a 13B and LSD, plus its far more reliable than another TII, which is the only FC Id own again. I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on a nice little SE and was wondering what the consensus is on sticking with FI versus swapping to a carb.

Im looking for something for everday driving for about a year and want ease of use and repair. By swapping to a carb, could I retain the "precision" of FI with a little more adjustability, or would I be kicking myself trying to get it to idle and whatnot.

School me!

It's been a while but Im pretty sure the -SE was a sub model of the GSL, so they should have all had LSD.

Stay with the FI for daily use..

My 1st SE was a daily driver that I put 36K miles on in 18 months. The car was great and had no issues at all with all the proper maintainance.

Also... ALL GSL-SE's came with a 4.11 LSD rear

Yeah, if you're just looking for a maintance free DD, stick with the EGI. If your looking for some tunability and power, I'd go for a carb. And yeah, all SE's came with a LSD.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I could just keep it FI for now and then go carb once I buy another new car. Im hoping to get a year of daily use out of it, but I dont know if I can make it that long before buying another new car!

I can't believe you guys struggling with basic questions of whether the SE came with LSD or not.

Also not all SE's came with the 4.076. 85 models came with the 3.90 gears.

Se's can make very decent power and retain way better fuel economy than a carb'd version would.

In my defense, I haven't owned a GSL-SE since 1993-ish!!

my 85 owners manual says 4.076. I was thinking that the only 3.9 rear end was on fc (maybe other) automatics

The 3.90 was used on all 79-82 models and the 85 SE also.

OK, so stick with FI it is for now.

How about exhaust? I have seen some FB's with a fat little muffler and a turn down pipe, very unassuming. Anyone tell me what that is?

Yeah............. I get tons of it from my carburetor.

I don't have to deal with programming an ECU or swapping out higher flowing injectors, it's all mechanical. I vote carbureted.
