RB header?

i had some questions about the racing beat header. Is there any chance it'll pass emissions? what if you left the cats on, or put on a high flow? would it defeat the purpose? How loud would it be?

All cats but the main cat are taken out when the header is installed (depends on the year as to how many cats there are) high flow cats i hear are great for passing emissions.... sound levels will increase quite substantionably, so if you're worried about noise levels, i'd consider a pre silencer.... if you have visual inspections it will not pass, there is also a sticker under you hood (or should be) saying how many cats are supposed to be on your car

Sound levels do NOT increase if you install the presilencer and power pulse muffler, but then there's no way to pass emmissions unless you bolt on yuor stock stuff for smog testing, then switch back to the RB stuff for daily use

There is a slim chance of passing emissions with an aftermarket setup... highflow cats generally do great for emissions but you're better off straight piping or using a straight through midpipe muffler in place of your cat. When emissions comes along just bolt on your stock set up, air pump, acv, ect, this takes more effort, but costs less money unless of course your stock cats/any other emission part isn't working properly.

edit: there should be some sort of an emissions sticker on the under side of your hood.

I just looked, and while there are i few stickers under the hood, specifying idle speed and stuff there's nothing about the cats. How loud would the car be if i put the header on and left the cats on without the pesilencer? would that pass emissions?

There is no way to leave the stock cats in there with a header, it takes out all of the cats except the main one, with a presilencer it also takes out the main one... also, that header will not bolt up straight to the stock converter. but they make aftermarket cats that will.

What alot of people here do is what Manntis said.

Put on the RB system, but switch to the stock system for emissions tests. Hell you only have to do them every few years, so the time it takes you to switch is well worth it.

Get the full RB system, I've heard it and it sounds great... no more noise than stock, but a nicer, slightly lower note to it. And it's high-flow, so it will give your ***-dyno the feel you want

From what I hear, switching isn't hard.. but hell, if you only have to test like every 4 years, just pay the 75$ to get a muffler shop to do it if you don't think you can
