Rattle

My 84 GSL hows a really bad metal rattling sound on the right front side.

I played with idler arm if moves quite easly up and down.

Also when I push on the tire towards the engine it has some play.

Also if I'm at a light standing still and turn the wheel hard I can hear metal hitting metal.

Any suggestions?

The steering components need to be replaced - that's what it sounds like at the least.

Yep, sounds like you've got no idler arm bushings left. Easy fix, though, just replace the bushings if the housing isn't too worn, or replace the entire idler arm.

Idler arm bushing procedure:

1) remove cotter pin from top of idler arm.
2) remove castle nut and washer from top of idler arm
3) remove remains of bushing at top and bottom of idler arm by removing arm, downward
4) replace idler arm bushings, bottom first, then insert idler arm into mount.
5) apply grease to inside of mount
6) install top idler arm bushing
7) install washer and castle nut
8) install cotter pin to keep castle nut from turning.

You're done. Get the parts from local Mazda dealer ($6 each x2), or Mazdatrix. HTH,

You bent your rear end apart and made it loose, and it fixed the rattling in your gas can? Hmmm.... That kinda goes along with the blown seal thing...
