Rats Nest. Yes..did the search

Ok...don't hate me too much for asking this question, I did the search and all....but really, I just wanna know, why would I want to remove the rats nest?

What advantages do I get for removing the solenoids?

What do you replace the old nest with?

No one seems to of explained the simple stuff

Cheers in advance.

this is another one of those Pandora's boxes, much like the V8 swap and Synthetic/Dino oil discussions.

Personally, I think if the rat's nest is working properly, it is actually detrimental to remove it....

you don't get any horsepower gains, or fuel economy, or anything. Only thing It MIGHT help with is if your rat's nest is leaking everywhere, and causing lean idle mixture, and vacuum leaks at open throttle...

Ok....just checking if really I was missing out on something. My car is running smooth so I don't wanna mess with it then.... I guess another benefit though is to remove it you probably make the engine bay look a bit neater as well.... but I would imagine it's a bit of work to rewire it all up when you remove the nest...

guess I'll just leave it until that s5 13b turbo gets put in!

Cheers

Yeah, clean engine bay is good, but I dunno about the downside.

The rat's nest is a vacuum leak waiting to happen, or just another thing to break, depending on how you look at it.

You don't. Either keep it tight (new hoses and such) or remove it.
