rats nest removed....where do these go?!?

Hi, Now i've got the engine running, it's time to tidy up the last few bits. When I got this engine it already had the rats nest removed. Its a 79 12a bridgeport and I've got a couple of vaccume lines missing I think. First, the vaccume advance on the distributor, Im guessing this just runs to a vacume line on the carb or manifold sumwhere, but where exactly is it ment to go?!?! also I have a pipe coming off the oil filler.... is this for some kind of oil system pressure and should be connected to somthing?!?... and just under that is another pipe coming out of the intermediate plate housing...what is this?!?! and where is it ment to go? thanks for all your help.

From what I have heard, you leave this line open to the air, not plugged or anything.

I think this would be your breather tube...Used for breathing air into the filler to recude condensation...Or something...I think people either leave it open or just put a little filter on the end of it (a little K&N would be cool ).

I have no idea

So does it not need vacume advance on the distributor?? wont the timing be out at high revs without this? I dont know as I haven't had a chance to really drive it yet....

the last hose comes out of where the oil filler neck go's in and looks exactly like the one on the neck but is on the engine. facing same way and everything, just a bit lower.

ok here i go.

hose out oil fill neck
goes to the fitting right next to the sensor in the nut with the two wires comming out of it. It is on the left side if you are standing on the dirvers side looking at it.

The one comming out of the housing goes into a metal pipe on the firewall. This pipe connect to the black cannister on the passengers side strut tower.
i think that awnser your questions.

Note this is on my 85 so somethings may not match up.

RotorMotorDriver is exactly right.

Leave the dizzy vacuum pots *uncapped*. If you cap them (as far as I understand), your timing will vary with varying weather conditions, and that isn't cool.

The oil filler neck nipple is part of the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation, I think) system. In my experience, the best thing to do is to install a small breather filter. This works better than a line to the air filter, in terms of eliminating condensation and reducing sludging up your air filter.

And yes, the intermediate housing nipple goes to the charcoal canister (via the metal line). This is also part of the PCV system, capturing fuel vapours from the gas tank.

'79-80 had the charcoal canister as part of the air filter assembly.

I plug a PCV valve inline between the manifold vacuum source and the oil filler tube, then route the center housing's nipple to the "clean" side of the air filter.
