Th rats nest is all the emissions stuff. like all the little tubes with colored connectors on top of the engine. Go HERE and click on the rats nest removal part( it takes a long time to load) if you want to take it off.

Don't do the rats nest removal according to that guide. Your vacuum advance won't work. Wait until someone figures out how to hook up the vacuum advance properly.

By the way if you have a GSL-SE with its 13b EFI I wouldn't try the tutorial for the carburetor'd 12a.

Not if you want to keep the vacuum advance. Losing it will hurt your gas milage and low end performance a little. I'm not really sure what the ultimate solution will be. Hopefully I'll figure it out when I go home and can get my rats nest back in a few days.

But isnt the gains worth it?(and not having to look at that ugly nest)
You have to comprimise with every upgrade you do.

I did the removal. Don't see any problems here. I set my timing just a few weeks ago. While I still had the light hooked up, a grabbed the throttle cable and gave it a yank. The cranked advanced just fine. Now, I have no idea how many degrees, but the way the car runs and idles, I would say everything is A-okay.
