It wasn't a thread here.

Go to www.havspeed.com and scope out pics of the car. He's been rallying RX-7s for years, although he may have switched to an Evo

What are the full-length units of which you speak? I have the full dual RB streetport system with the two 20” long, p/n 16398, Power Pulse presilencers. This is my second one and both have been loud and tinny as hell. More noise comes from under the car via the presilencers than from the header and muffler combined. I'd love to replace the center section with something quieter.

The part # of the units I mentioned is 16400. That is from my 1985 Racing Bleat catalog. Maybe your setup uses a thinner-walled unit to save weight, I don't know. I was unable to find the part # you mentioned in my old catalog. I will say that the presilencers I'm talking about are quite heavy.

Tone implies something pleasing. My setup, the complete RB Street Port system, is not, because of the silencers.

The part I referenced is one component from the complete 12A Street Port system, as shown on their site. Looks like the 16400 is not plug and play with that system, but if it is quieter, it might be worth fabbing a center section made of two 16400's. Thanks.

I just read a thread around here somewhere that said that the long-primary setup uses thinner-walled tubing to save weight, so that may be at least part of the answer.

I don't understand.

First you mock people who want to be quiet, then you praise the RB system which is probably the quietest exhaust system you can put on a rotary besides stock.

Have you ever even heard a rotary with a poor exhaust system (or none at all)? Turbo engines don't count, turbo rotaries are extremely quiet compared to N/As.
