Question re: Brake Booster

I just got a new brake booster from the local auto parts and the back plate is turned 45 degrees from the OEM. The mounting studs do not match up with the holes in the firewall, and the master cylinder would be mounted on its side.

Can the back plate be turned the 45 deg? How difficult is it to take off the plate and reinstall?

I'm hesitant to reorder as the parts store and I have had a run of bad luck finding correct fitting parts.

Also, I have an 85 GS but parts of the car seem to be 86 or beyond and others - we can't identify at all. Has this been a problem wit 85's?

Thanks

Yeah, I don't doubt it can work, because of the RX parts versatility. The problem is that the M/C will be laying on its side if I install it according to its bolt pattern.

Guess I'll take it back and wait for the next one.

Thanks for the advice

yeah, if it was anything else I'd suggest trying something else with it, but brakes are NOT something to screw around with, as mentioned before.... you can go without power, but if you can't stop, you've got problems.... ever try turning the key off on your car and pumping the brakes a couple times while going down a steep hill, and then trying to stop? That's hard... haha... yeah. Take it back, try another one. Tell them the problem, maybe they know something about it.

Doubt that, knowing parts stores.

Anyway, as everyone else said, get a different one.

Meh, maybe your parts stores are different down there

the Lordco and NAPA here both have knowledgable staff, who actually know what they're talking about. I go to Lordco mostly, as Ross there has owned 4 RX-7s in the past, and know pretty much every part number by heart.
