Unhappy Question about front brakes

Ok, I'm trying to figure out what this grinding noise is in the front of my car and so, I pulled the drivers side wheel and the disc wouldn't spin. Now, I'm trying to pull the caliper and can't figure out how to get the lower bolt out with out disassemnling the entire f****** car.

This is on a 85GSL with the 12a.

Soooo, any help would be mucho appreciated.

THANKS!!!!

You don't have to remove the lower bolt. Loosen the 2 bolts that secure the caliper housing to the backing plate then remove the front lower bolt that you can see when looking towards the car. Then tap the top of the caliper with a hammer away from the caliper. You should now be able to swing the caliper off of the housing.

If you really, really want the bracket off too (say if you want the rotor off) then the trick I used was a cheep offset box end wrench, ground down the end until it fit in the gap. Takes about an hour but gets the job done. Heating the area around the bolt helps if it's being stubborn.

could be that you need to clean and re-grease your pivot shaft

Alright guys, I'll try what you said. I'm wanting to remove the caliper because I think the piston is shot. Just want to get it off there to find out.
