Question Question about belts

I'm only running one belt in my car now (no airpump). I'm getting quite a bit of slippage once and a while. Is the best way to fix this is get a double-groove alternator pulley and run dual belts? If so, where do I get one? Thanks!

check out http://www.mazdatrix.com/b9.htm
Mazdatrix has a section on pulleys, belts and what kind of set up to use if you remove the air pump. (If you still have a stock exhaust, replace the air pump and read my thread on the thermal reactor that I posted the other day. It will tell you how the reactor works and why it needs the air pump.)
Mazdatrix will tell you a some stuff about trouble shooting belt sippage.
Hope that helps.

My exhaust is far from stock.. Headers and the whole works. The airpump is just extra weight. Thanks for the link!

Putting in an electric fan will help with slippage as well as the belt no longer has to drive the heavy clutch fan.

Check out http://www.rx7.voodoobox.net/
this guy installed an electric fan and explains exactly how to do it, and talks about why this fan is much better than any other. Its a tad bit pricey, but Im going to get it. Also, talk to a guy on here named 1st7heaven
he has an electric water pump. He dyno'd his car before and after the pump installation and showed 5 more horses. Now if you replace the pump, fan, and replace that stock 30lbs flywheel for a 17lbs steel one, or a 9lbs aluminum one (these are ultra light and makes it a little more jerky when taking off in 1st gear) then you are adding a lot more power to rear wheels. Throw in a high flow cat and turbo muffler like what I got, and you will feel like you got a new 7

yeah, i put a black magic on my '79 two summers ago- my fan clutch was gone, so i had a good enough reason. the fan does a good job- pulls like a mother.
i really dont think two belts are needed- i have two but one should be fine if the clutch is ok.
