puffs of smoke

so i was wondering if this is normal for such an old car.. if i am running my car to about 7 or 8 grand in first or second after sitting at a light.. it releases a big cloud of smoke.. but only when i sit at a light for a while and then gun it to 8k before shifting.. anything else its fine.. no smoke.. not even at startup.. is this normal or do i have a problem?

Oil control rings are going on it. Try some Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer. I'm currently using 2 quarts as replacement for oil and it has fixed this problem....
