PSA on Fuel Economy

Hey guys:

I realize that mpgs are not why we drive these cars, but last month I got a new gas cap from rockauto for like 20 bucks since mine was torn and loose. I was getting about 250km to the tank at the time. After installing the new one: I've filled up twice since then and I hit 300km and 280km per tank! Thought I'd point it out since it's gonna pay for itself and then some pretty quick.

Just fyi I have a recently rebuilt stock 12a and a holley carburetor/electric fuel pump.

You must be running pretty rich and I doubt the cap made a big difference, probably weather and/or difference in driving style or some other outside change. Or its a difference in how empty you let the tank get. Either way that mileage isn't the best you can do.

I get about 24mpg HWY and usually fill up around the 240 mile mark with about 2 gallons left in the tank. For city driving its more like 17 MPG. This is with a hogged out nikki. That Holley isn't helping you I'm sure.
