It's amazing what a coat of paint can turn a rotary into!

Darn shame...but now that you've committed the heresy, let us know the slalom times and skid pad numbers, so we'll finally know the truth about what the extra weight means in a handling penalty, if any exists. And please, chuck the hokey chrome air cleaner. Get a carbon fiber...wait a minnit...get the ram-air set-up from a repro source and then mod the hood for a shaker scoop...oh, yesss, the people will flee in terror!!

not bad. ya know, at first the thought ov a v8 in an rx7 made me sick. but I got thinking about it, and I wondered "why? why do all of us think its so bad" Why do all of us thinks its dumb? Is it because the "r" in rx7 stands for rotary? is it because it's a sports car? why? I mean, it's somewhat similar to Carol Shelby taking a ford V8 and putting it in a Cobra, which started out as a little British sportscar, and look how popular it is. I'm warming up to the idea of a v8 in a FB. That is, if the car doesn't have an engine to begin with. I think taking a perfectly running rx7 and doing this swap is wrong, there are so few stock FB's left. But still i think a V8 in a Fb isn't that bad. Don't wanna start trouble with anyone, it's just my $.02

Yeah you don't see people saying ol' Shel ruined the AC Ace by putting a big heavy V8 in there, do you?

I think the V8 conversions are kinda neat, like a poor man's Cobra Daytona. Plus it means more 12A cores in circulation

There's no such thing as a sleeper rotary. Either it's slow or it's loud!

My reaction was kinda funny... First it loaded a strip from the top of the pic, So I saw the engine bay.

Okay, I'm going to see a nicely cleaned engine bay with a partially installed engine.

Then I see the chromed air cleaner.

Okay, I'm going to see a nicely cleaned engine bay with a partially installed, modded engine.

Then I saw the Right valve cover and top part of the distributor.

Okay... Wait... That dizzy is in the wrong place and has too many connections... Oh no. It's a V8 Conversion.

After it loaded all the way, I can honestly say I'm impressed. It looks like a clean install and hopefully it'll turn out to be a fine drag racing machine.

Just wait'll I rebuild my RX-7, with the 12A. I know of the perfect road to race on.

Terribly (Most excellently) windy with thick trees and a ditch on both sides. Took that bastard at 70, straight over the double yellows late at night. Speed limit is 40.

I hope you didn't scrap a prefectly running spinner for that boinger though.

I plan on both.

need some ford motorsport valve covers.
YES! Got some?

And please, chuck the hokey chrome air cleaner. Get a carbon fiber...wait a minnit...get the ram-air set-up from a repro source and then mod the hood for a shaker scoop...oh, yesss, the people will flee in terror!!
I know, its temporary, I want . . oh what you call it.... one of those mesh triangular ones. Shaker would be sweet!

So, how much HP is the 302 gonna push out?
Should be at least 300.
Engine from a 69 mustang totally rebuilt
Pistons, Rods, larger valves, cam, shorty headers, ported heads, bored 30 over, Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley 650 4bbl carb, I forget, maybe bumped up compression. T-5 from 88 GT, heavy duty clutch, stock rear for now. Single 3 inch to a Dynomax ultra flow should looks like a fart can . . .. or so unsuspecting victims will think

Maybe you should've got a heavy-*** Pontiac 350. Fulper just coaxed a roller-camm'd, Eddie-headed 350 into 540 HP NA territory...I mean if you're gonna use a V8, you might as well use one with guts...

And before any nimrod goes off about the distributor being in the wrong place, that's why you'd use the MSD crank trigger...

I know someone who had a 306 (just a 302 with a .030 cleanup overbore) running 10's in a heavy GT convertible... no spray, no forced induction, passes smog, shift points that would make most rotaries wince... Now imagine that in a chassis that weighs 2/3rds as much...
