I've been working on on my car a lot the past couple of days. Here are a few progress pictures.

Tonight I put the radiator in, intake all buttoned down, and filled with oil. All that is left are fuel pump and thermostat. Tomorrow we may be a go for main engine start.

She Lives! We breathed life into the beast tonight after sorting out some wire problems. Whoever thought black w/ a yellow stripe should be power for the engine should be shot.
You're welcome for the pictures Johnny. Let me know if there is anything else you need. I think the car turns pretty well. I never measured the steering angle before I took it apart but I imagine it's good. I'll work on uploading pictures and stuff tomorrow. So excited.

Dude, I am so doing this do my '79 GS.
Someone posted about this here or on their own website long ago, but never really completed it - or at least never updated the posting. This is some great info.
I blew my 12A a while back and decided that it would be a waste of time to find/rebuild another 12A, so FC 13B was the way to go, being much more common. EFI is a definite bonus.
Swapping out the front cover and oil pan is easy enough, BUT with the FC crossmember you get a relatively cheap way to have rack and pinion! Not to mention an easy upgrade to FC big brakes if you want them.
Thanks for the write-up!

If you stick with the FB this IS the best route IMO to go!
FC 13B Engine easy in and out
FC front coilovers
FC four Pot Brakes (Turbo, GXL... maybe gtu?)
FC crossmember
Better turn in
Rack and pinion... even powered rack and pinion with close 15:1 ratio.
It's just the best way I think. Only downside is the wider front stance... but you can offest that in the rear no problem with - offset and or wheel spacers.

Everything is up and running! I had a minor problem with a fuel pressure regulator, but we'll wrap that up in the next few days. Now just to put miles on it before the race.

It's been a little while since I have updated this. The car is still not running very well and I think I have narrowed it down to the TPS, but as you all know nothing is for sure. Anyway, I can't work on it right now as I am away with my wife, but here are some more pictures.

I mentioned before that I had to rig a fuel pressure regulator to get it going. Thought you guys might enjoy a bit of our ingenuity. It is the regulator from a 2.0 Ford engine with both ends of the fuel rail cut off and bolted together with some A/C O rings. Enjoy!

It was only on there for a day or two. Dropped my fuel pressure from 80psi to 37psi. What a difference fuel pressure makes.
