Problem! Turn indicator/hazard lights
Hi all!
1984 12A (UK car) came back from the body shop yesterday and now the hazards/turn signals are totally dead.
I cahnged the fuse....nothing. Searched the forums and read the Haynes and now I'm confused as hell!
In my electronic ignorance I looked for relay F03 under the steering column and couldn't see anything that had the required 3 wires going in/out of it. Just a black 'relay-check lamp' with 4 wires...
Other posts say that the flasher relay is actually in the CPU (a replacement would be difficult enough to get over here...); is this true and would it control both the hazards and the turn signals?
Any help would be appreciated so I don't get some clown driving up my ***..

Dave, I am in the same sinking boat! Pretty sure we need a new CPU. Find a wreck and salvage one. Mazda parts guy just looks blankly back at me when I ask him anything. lol

the flasher cpu is located on the left side, under the dash on U.S. spec cars, just above the hood release. it is a black rectangular shaped box. when this unit goes bad it will cause the turn signals and flashers to function intermittently or not to function at all.

Exactly right, the flasher unit is a black rectangular box, but it's very difficult to get to and on the UK spec cars it's similarly also high up above the hood release. Therefore it seems that it's on the other side to US spec. cars.

Take a look here. I have pics of the flasher unit (US spec).

The flasher itself is removable from the CPU unit. I am not sure if you could find a replacement at an autoparts store or not.

From memory the US spec picture looks just like the UK spec; I doubt there would be a difference. I recently got some glass hatch struts from Dickens in CA, he shipped to England and that was easy.
