Does anyone know where I can find a manual for an 85 GSL-SE?
I need to figure out the fuse box since it doesnt have the label anymore, and I don't have a manual. There are 2 fuses missing and 2 things not working, so Im hoping those will help.

Also my turn signals aren't working, I bought the little silver thing for them, (forgot what it is called) it has the two posts on it and its a cylinder shape..just I don't know where it goes, and can't find the old one to replace.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

This has everything that you need to know to do any work on the car. The cylinder thing that you are taling about is the flasher. Unfortunately, it sound like the wrong one. The SE flasher is rectangular in shape. It goes in the black box next to the fuse box under the dash (Has a large connector plugged into it). There is a rectangular plastic part that sticks out. It is removable and this is where the flasher goes.

Snap. Now I guess I will have to go out and buy another one. Hopefull the flasher will fix it, this is my first RX and im loving the hell out of it, it is going to take me some time to get used to it, but its a blast. It is in pretty decent shape. Though I would like to drop a new motor in it and get it back up to par. the exhuast i hate with a passion, its stock exhaust minus the catalytic converter, the muffler is constricting air flow so i get that annoying *** back pressure pop.

well ****, I bought the new flasher, but I still can't find where it goes. I found that black "thing". Does it say something about a relay on a sticker on it? check lamps or something along those lines?

 

Haven't had to do much electrical on my SE (yet!), but I've done a bit on the GSL and GS and the Haynes manual is pretty good (I also have the Mazda shop manual for the 83). Usually you can figure out things from the Haynes manual. The key is to relate things to the wire colors.

I have no doubt that the SE fusebox is peculiar, but if you look at the wire colors going in and out you should be able to figure it. You can detach the fusebox from the sheetmetal to get a better look. Some of the prongs on my 83 get corroded and I have had to replace them with some from the junkyard. I tried shooting them with Contact Cleaner but no luck.

As far as placement of the flasher, Haynes does have physical layout drawings that are moderately helpful (tho i still haven't found a flasher location for any of my cars, but i haven't NEEDED to either). Get one of those little telescoping mirrors, flood the under dash with light, and look around for a box that looks like the one you bought.

Here are some pics of where the flasher goes. The box that it mounts in is known as the CPU. The CPU controls intermittent wipres, hazards, turn signals, seat belt warning light/buzzer, etc.) You can see the flasher in the second 2 pics. Myine was really hard to pull out. I am sure you will need to remove the CPU to get to the flasher (not too easy). There is normally a black cover that goes over the flasher.
