Probably an odd question...

Will a 13b fit in the hatch area of an FB? I *may* be picking up a bare TII block this weekend, but need to know if I can stuff it in the back hatch of my FB to bring it home. The rear of my FB is gutted, and I *think* it's big enough to fit the motor in there, just looking for some confirmation.

This motor will be the beginning of a project motor for the FB. It'll be staying N/A, but with some porting. That's all I care to say about it for now, in case something falls through and I don't end up getting the motor at all. No desire to sound like a ricer.

Here's hoping!
Marc

For safety and ease of loading, I would remove the passenger seat and haul the block there, otherwise, it will fit in the hatch.

Ooh that is a good idea, I can probably pull that off too, since I'll be riding solo up there for the rotary meet.

How long does it take to remove the seat? and does it fit in the hatch area? I'd like to keep it in until I pick up the motor if I can. If not, that's no biggy, the car looks like crap inside and out, so one less seat won't affect it much, lol.

4 bolts for the seat and it's out, and it will fit in the hatch.

Cool thanks, I appreciate the input. Now to get the FB running (good) by saturday. If I have to take the FD up there, I'll have to wait til after the 1st to make the trip again, to pick the motor up with the FB.

hehehe. It's tempting, but the interior of my FB is in sad shape, the FD interior is at least nice still. I wouldn't mind the FB interior getting all nastied up, but not so with the FD.

Hey Marc, if all else fails, we can strap that puppy to the hood of the FD....LOL
Yeah, I'd say pull the pass seat, and place it in the hatch. Then again, it's just a leather seat, so we could just toss it on the seat....... At least with it in the front, you could sorta strap it down with the seat belt.
If there was a way to get it in the hatch, we both know where there is a hoist to get it back out......

+1 Pass Seat.

In the hatch it would be to hard to make sure it doesn't move around. Accelerate or corner too hard you risk taking out glass, and brake too hard and you have 300lbs of engine in the back of your head.

It looks like I am screwed by the system on this one. I need plug wires, and nobody around here has any. My last chance to get some, is the same place that has the engine hoist, hope I can at least borrow them... I'll be running leading ignition only if I can find the 2 wires I need, lol.

no no no, just putting it in the hatch to transport it, not making mid engine.

I'm going to use the seat method, if I get it running in time.

I picked up the motor the other day. S4 turboII motor, pretty bare block. Tomorrow morning I'll be tearing it down, to see how she looks inside. So I guess I can spill some of my plan for it...

First off, I'm staying N/A. I'm going to swap the turbo II rotors for s4 or s5 n/a rotors, probably going to get the s5. I'm gonna get the primaries med-large streetport, and bridgeport the secondaries. The 4-barrel holley will be swapped out for another holley. This one is gonna be a 600 double pumper. I just rebuilt it, so it's ready to go on. The car already has a racing beat header on it, I'm going to finish it off with a magnaflow round straight through for a resonator, and a borla single inlet, dual outlet muffler at the back. I have a full set of brake rotors, pads and Stainless lines to put on yet as well. I've already got the Carter fuel pump and holley 4.5-9psi regulator ready to go on. I just replaced the radiator, installed an electric fan, and been wiring up direct fire using GM Ignitors (DR100s).

That's all I can think of at the moment, I'm sure I've got more laying around here... lol.

I put it in the back of a 91 integra. It fit with plenty of room. Didn't get it in the FB because it didn't get running for the trip.

One thing I forgot to mention that I have for the car, is one of the keyless entry kits from audioadapters on ebay. Also replacing a good bit of interior parts, and installing some turboII seats when I can find a nice set local.
All that for the FB, and I have parts for the FD in here too. Everything I need to replace the intercooler minus the Greddy Intake Elbow... which still hasn't shipped. Along with plug wires, plugs, ast, fuel pump, wideband, and the list goes on and on. My room is like an RX7 parts store.

Problem is, the parts should be installed on the cars! They're a lot more fun that way.

But they get dirty when on the car.......LOL. Even then, you'll still have a room full of parts, cause you'll need a place to store the old stuff......

One day, when a A-Spec 500r shows up on my doorstep, the twins will be coming off. That might be awhile though...

Well the motor is opened up now and ...

Good news! It came with damned near new rotor housings, worth the $300 by themselves! The irons are a little worn, and the e-shaft was toast (along with all the bearings). I was planning on replacing bearings anyhow, and the shop has an e-shaft I can buy in great condition. He's also swapping me S5 N/A parts for the S4 TurboII parts (Flywheel, rotors, counterweight, etc) and giving me a great deal on them. We'll be cleaning up the motor next weekend, and I'll probably start ordering new parts then as well.

Looking forward to getting this motor down in my little FB!
