Where can I get a Vacuum Advance unit?

Where can I get a Vacuum Advance unit for my 85 12a?

Autozone and O'Reillies here in OKC both say the don't stock them,
and can't order them. and I didn't see them in the Victoria British/ Black Dragon
catalog.

Thanks

Amazingly enough I remember seeing this in a completely unrelated thread which I archived last week:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ht=vac+advance

Read the whole thing on how vac advance works, and he gives you a part number for a good vac advance diaphragm that can be bought at your local NAPA

I love that post.... saved in numerous files on several of my computers and posted across a stunning variety of message boards.

If anyone says "ditch the VA," you're wrong.

Jon,

That is a pretty great description of advance and timing, however it seems specifically
geared to GM products. I typed in the part number on Google and got that same article on several GM forums. My guess is that the part number given will work only with a GM dizzy.

Does no one make NEW replacement vacuum advance units for the Gen 1 RX-7's?
I do not want to get a used one, it might just go out too.

I called Autozone, O'Reilly, and checked NAPA online with no luck. I guess monday
I'll have to call the local Mazda dealership and see if they have one.

Vacuum units rarely go out The way Mazda packages many of thier replacement parts, you may need to buy the entire dizzy. If it was me, I would test the vacuum unit and make sure that it has failed and the problem is not a vacuum leak some where.

I hooked it to a a long rubber hose and put some suction on it, and
the vacuum unit did not move, and the suction would not hold. I checked the second one and it worked just fine. It appears the diaphram is broken in one of the
advance units
