Probably a dumb question... S1 SA related

I searched but i just want to double check... I found a 1980 Rx7 that body wise look fine but it's un-drivable as of now. I was wondering if a complete GSL SE suspension conversion would be able to swap in with out major modification (IE welding, extensive cutting).

I'm just trying to figure out about how much time it would take me to swap everything over and if I'll have the time to complete it. Thanks and don't flame me too much lol

except for the brake lines, it bolts right in.

the brake lines change in 81, but i think ReSpeed makes the SA/FB ones

Swapping in the SE suspension is a very desirable mod. If you have all the parts on hand, it can be done in weekend with proper planning and some help. Be sure to have plenty of PB Blaster on hand and a good 1/2" impact wrench.

Now If you were to decide to swap out the engine, drive train and FI, that will take a a lot more time, mods and work.

I have a running -Se with a rusty body. And I have found threads with the engine swap. I was just curious if they changed the mounting positions of the control arms or shocks from S1 to S3. I contacted the owner of the SA about it and I should be picking up the car in two weeks.

you'll also need to switch the rear portion of the e-brake cables

The mounting difference between the 12A and 13B engines is the engine cradle/cross-member. As far as swapping the carbed 12A for the FI 13B, there is a considerable amount of work and modification that needs to be done. Just a short list would include changing the:

Spare tire well to accommodate the larger SE fuel tank along with it's sump cup.
All fuel lines. SE fuel lines are the largest of any generation RX7.
Front engine harness, dash harness ecu at a minimum. It's easier to add the FC under hood fuse block. By the time one gets done changing all the wiring, it may be just as simple to go with MegaSquirt instead.
For 11 more hp, one could use the S4 intake system with 4 injectors instead of the SE intake with only 2. This requires the later wiring harness or MS.

This is just some of the basic stuff. I you really want to get an idea of what's involved, look through how to do a TII swap into a 1st gen.
