Power steering pressure.. Does anyone know

Since my original pump wont fit, im installing a remote mounted electrical one. But does anyone know what operating pressure the system is supposed to have?

Thanks,

Morten

I'm only familiar with the Toyota Electric Steering Racks and those use a motor mounted to the actual rack. I have never heard of a fluid operated electronic powersteering unit.

the mazda3's (and volvo s40's) have an electric motor on a "normal" ps pump. kinda nice, they have it tucked out of the way, assist is always right etc etc

the line pressure for the rx7, should be in the FSM, its on google

There is a lot of cars out there with electric PS pumps, i getting mine from a Opel Astra G, or a Volvo 440.. They are both Delphi units, supplying 75-100 bars of pressure.

Remember, im in Norway. We have ALOT of FWD cars with cramped engine compartments, that you never had on sale in the states.

The 1st gen PS pump puts out 7000 KPa (70 bar, 1000psi) constant pressure. The output flow rate is about 6.5 liters/min. This is out of Section 10B of the '85 FSM.

Thanks, that makes the Opel pump ideal, at exactly 70 bars!
