if you are running a system in your car you should put a 1 farad digital cap in .that will also let you know if you are pulling too many amps, especially in an older car. i had that problem burning out my alternator. re-check your power and ground as well.your battery will go real quick after the alt. just in case you didnt know.

the big alternators take engine power when you put load on the alternator, the idle drop is expected!

oh, well that makes sense! haha, even when i have the lights on bright and the system blasting like hell there isnt one flicker of my lights or any dimming. everything is bright and LOUD AS NUTZ hahahaha. i'm gonna redo my grounds though and get thicker gauge wire for the battery/ground/alt. i have read it helps a bit!

Even with the stock alternators, idle drops when electrical accessories are turned on . Im sure that the drop isnt noticable on the 2nd gens when they turn on accessories because the FI probably compensates for it. Thats just a guess though.
