Question pinstriping?

is this original....i was lookin at my 85 se 2day an noticed some parts of red pinstriping and some faded lines where some was on the upper half of the body just above the door handle line

Pinstriping was added at the dealer. I refused it when I bought my 83GS new. Now, I take it off my cars, if present, because I prefer the cleaner stock look.

i dont think it looks that bad....well at least on my car it's black with dark red pinstripping, i think it adds to the old skool look of it since they dont really do that much nemore

You can get a pinstripe 'eraser' at a body shop supply outlet, and on eBay: they sorta work. I've tried various mild chemicals like alcohol, without much success. It's tedious.

you can take a grinder to it but then you end up with a more permanent pin striping.

usually auto body supply stores have a rubber eraser that is round and u put it in a drill and go over the stripe with it it will remove the stripe without hurting the paint use a good 9.6 or better drill then use some cleaner wax after ure all done and it will take the haze of the car where the eraser was used its pretty easy to do
