Pinging?
I started to notice that my car is pinging(sounds like a loose heat shield). I had it set at 26 L and 16 T. It never did this before, only recently. I tried backing the timing down and for some reason it will not go away. What are some of the things that would cause this?
Thanks, Ed

Fix it Now!
Just a FYI and my 2 cts.
I highly suggest you determine exactly what is causing this. If your motor is really pinging or detonating, you will very soon blow your motor if you haven't already.
If you really are detonating, then something is causing it as it is not normal. On a NA I believe timing or crossed ignition wires could cause the problem. On a turbo, too much boost with too little fuel will also cause this. Running higher octane fuel will also help.
If you have a turbo, look over in the second gen section about running lean and detonation--or get some tuning help.
Don't take this like I'm telling you what to do--I'm just warning you and hoping you don't blow your engine.
Best of luck fixing the problem.

The weird thing is, I'm still N/A. Would a leaky coolant seal cause this. The reason I ask is because I put new plugs in and took it out for a spin. When I got back I pulled the plugs and my 2 front plugs(L and T) looked dirty and somewhat starting to foul, while the rears were still clean.
