upgrades?

I have an 84 se. I am in the process of rebuilding the engine stock and wanted to do some upgrades and want to know what the best setup is for a street car and maybe some races on the weekends.

Could you guys give me some ideas for the care all around from engine to chasse.

Well, I should preface this by saying I'm not a 1st gen guy, so there are many things I might miss or be off on.
Anyhow, here goes:

1. Street-Port: A must as far as I'm concerened. Especially on older cars as they the smallest stock ports. You'll lose a little on the bottom end but gain a lot in the top and mid-range.

2. Modified or Bigger Carb: In the Racing Beat tech manual they comment on how RX7's have carbs...except that their too small.

3. Exhaust: Also a must. Rotaries respond particularly well to exhaust upgrades. While your at it, upgrade the intake as well. A cold air box can be made easily and cheaply from aluminum sheet metal.

As for other stuff, adjustable shocks (Tokico Iluminas for example) and better brake pads (I like Porterfield R4's) are nice too.

Street porting should cost ~$300 and race-porting the exhaust ~$100 more. Without a doubt, the best bang for the buck. Next up I'd do the exhaust/intake. The full Racing Beat setup (header to tail-pipe) runs $600. Save the last $500 for Tokico Ilumina 5-way adjustable struts. There, that's $1500. Note, these prices don't include install on the exhaust and struts.

Porting for 300? is that the whole thing? could you tell me where exactly i could get that done?

I've got an 84 gsl se and i was wondering what mods you would suggest for that.
