Just wondering if you are getting pre ignition does it make a ping noise.I've been getting ping noises when acclerating,like half throttle,but it doesn't do it everytime,sometimes three times in a row then won't do it the rest of the day.Sometimes it's one ping to 6 ping during accleration.I have a new motor with 4ooo miles on it,and my spark plugs were used from the old engine,but were just replaced before i blew my engine and they were still in good shape.I think i have one of the worst rx7 out thre it's not stop in the shop.I've owned it for a year and 3 months and i've put in 25,000 in it.I've replaced everything and i think i need my fourth engine now,but atleast it's under warrenty.I still love my car,it would be nice to get it running right for once!

 

Oh and i only use 93 octane!

 

Detonation sounds like a popcorn popping in the microwave, just quieter. Is the ping: metalic sounding or like popcorn and how many pds of boost are you running? jc
