Painting eng during rebuild..
I'm building a TII for my 1st gen. I'm going to start painting my parts today and was wondering what colors will look beter on certain parts.. It will be a TII short block, S5 TII LIM, -REW FD UIM with adapter plate. The LIM and UIM/TB are polished like a mirror finish. I'm painting the plates blue and the housings aluminum, thinking of painting the water pump housing blue, front cover aluminum and water pump/pulleys black.. what u guys think?

Airflow is my life
Sounds nice, but go with powdercoat if you can rather than paint. Paint will look good for a few months and then fade and get chalky. And any polished aluminum should be powdercoated clear to protect it.

a good engine paint should do, it works on all of the rest of the engines in the world, I saw a pic where the rotor housings were painted yellow & the other pices were paited black, made the engine look like a bumble bee. Seemed fitting.

The best rattle-can paint you can buy is made by Seymour, large cans called MRO. Incidentally, Seymour invented paint in a spray can, they been doing this for a long time. These cans don't seem to clog like a lot of others, I have had really good luck with it. And my little secret for success: hold the can under hot running water while you are shaking it up. Getting it nice and warm helps with the pressure and the paint flows out well.
They have some primer, cold galvanize and other specialties in addition to the colors. I use the "Stainless Steel" which has a pigment of pure powdered stainless steel, excellent corrosion protection, not very glossy. I use that on brake calipers, miscellaneous brackets etc.
I painted my distributor body to match the rotor housings, looked pretty good.

Remember rub assemby grease on the surfaces you don't want paint on, paint as usual, when the paint is dry, use a rag & wipe the greased area, & the paint wipes off clean.

I sell MRO spray paint at work.....its like no spray paint youve ever used.Get some, even if you dont use it to paint the engine.Theres so much pigment, you can nearly mist it on.I lasts forever and itll never drip because you use so little.

I painted my long block and it actually came out better than I'd have hoped. There's several pics and specifics on what I used.
