OMP not hooked up

Hey everyone. My OMP isn't connected, it doesn't open more as I give it more gas. So my question is, is it still giving very little oil to the intake manifold eventhough the lever's not moving? I've been premixing under the impression that it wasn't giving very much if any oil from the pump.

Very, very little oil comes out, but it does still come out. This means you can't simply cap the lines or whatever.

Ok, I'll just leave it like it is and continue to premix then.

That's a good idea. Maybe you should change your name to premix?

If you would prefer not to premix, you could always either engineer a bicycle brake cable to go from the carb throttle arm to the pump lever, or you could simply wire the pump arm all the way up so it is going full bore all the time. That's what premixing is doing anyway.

I prefer premixing. It takes like 5 seconds, especially when putting in 10 gallons, no measuring! The 2 stroke oil is better for it anyway, less carbon buildup.

True. I prefer premixing also, for the same reasons. (a bottle per tank, no problems, long as I remember to buy a few more bottles every Sunday)

But some people don't like premixing, and there are always ways to hook up the OMP...

I wired a couple OMPs open to about the 9 o'clock position recently. It's mainly because I didn't have rods for them. I have two spare rods now, but as long as I keep the revs low on my rebuild(s) (the second will be running soon), it'll be fine. A little thick at idle has been fine. Besides, 2cc per minute at 6k RPM is just barely a dribble anyway.
