NC OMP line boots?

I have a 1985 S, 12a. Recently, I replaced the OMP (thanks to Ray Green!). My problem now is that the rubber boots (?) on the end of the lines coming from the OMP are leaky. They are brittle. The lines appear to be fine, but just around the boots are leaking. Can these boots be replaced? If so, where can I get replacements? Do I need to fab something? (oh boy...)

thanks!
Jonathan

So I have found trimmer fuel line to work well for replacing the rubber parts of the lines. You
can get this cheap at lowes depot in the mower section. Make sure you have enough slack that its
not too sharp of a bend. It fits the hard plastics lines well, just presses on, no leaks in years
on mine. I used it for the lines from the top of the lines into my carb. Bonus, they are clear so
you see the oil as well.

why not just replace both omp lines with new units from Mazda? they are relatively inexpensive and cheap insurance for your engine.

You mean the black bits? Ive always just used vacuum line to replace them. Never had a leak or problem.

I used vacuum line also but did not have good results. Once the engine got to temp, the lines became rubbery and leaked. I went back to factory after this.

I think it would be neat to convert the factory ones to a mechanical screw on -AN style connector.

I used tiny zip ties squeezed as tight as they go than I snipped the extra off. You definitely have to use the metal spring clips for the directly out of the OMP barbs. I don't remember if I had better results with rubber or silicon though.

oddly one of the lines is NLA, but i bet you could use two of the one that is available.

8871-14-670B, list price is $19.19

Replacing both lines may be the answer, true. I'm guessing one line is marginally longer than the other - hence the two different part numbers?

Also, those little spring clamps, where can I get replacements for those? Do they come with the lines from Mazda? It doesn't appear that way online...?

thanks again.

Any info on the spring hose clamps for the OMP lines? Can I use any spring hose clamp? (assuming the correct size, of course)? I ordered both lines from Atkins, but they don't have clamps. Of my clamps, one seems to be in bad shape...not staying tight. It's nearly 30 years old, so I guess that's to be expected...

Atkins mentioned using zip ties, but that seems like it'd not hold up to the heat. Thoughts? Suggestions?

thanks!

he OE clips appear to be NLA, there isn't really any pressure in the metering system, so you could reuse yours, or use safety wire or something like that

Zip ties dont give enough force to hold them on right. Just take some baler type wire and twist it on there real tight and snip it. Should work. It will be hard to find a hose clamp that small.

This is why I use the trimmer fuel line. Its a nice size that really holds onto the nipple
when its installed, no extra clips needed. Works better than the rubber.
