Oil pressure Question

Started my car yesterday, and the oil pressure went all the way pass 110PSI on the gauge, then the oil light came on. Is this something i should worry about? What would cause the oil pressure to go that high?

The wire. It's probably covered in oil. Wiggle it around. Take it off, wipe the mushroom shaped thing. Put the wire back on. Also check the oil level on the dipstick.

For the oil pressure reading, check the sender connection and wire as Jeff said. When the wire grounds out, the gauge pegs. If the low oil light ever comes on, stop and check/fix the problem immediately.

Running an engine out of oil can quickly lead to scored bearings and e-shaft. Oil pan is emptied rather quickly when an oil cooler hose pops, even at idle.
