oil pressure after oil change

ok guys i just did an oil change on the se and i put 20 -50 in it as well as 1liter of that lucas heavy oil aditive to help my oil seals at it was smoking quite a bit on startup no when its at operational temature on idle the oil pressue is up above 40 aroud 42 psi and at 3500 which according to the fsm is where it should be at the highest its at 75psi to even 80 depending on how long i hold the rpm that high....is this normal i mean more oil pressure the better but that seems a little high becuase its out of spec for the service manual

Did you pay attention to what your pressure gauge ran before you did the oil change?

ya it was below the 20 line on the meter like on the stock on it has 0 line 40 line 80 line it was below the first line at idle...so probably alittle less the 20

sounds good to me. oil seals can take 120+ psi, won't blow. But would force some oil into the combustion chamber and burn more oil.

There's 2 oil pressure bypasses. One in the front cover, one in the rear plate. I think you're good bro.

Yeah, the Lucas will raise the oil pressure somewhat due to the higher viscosity. Don't worry about it, you'll be just fine...

What's listed in the FSM and the owner's manual for oil changes assumes that the oil cooler is fully drained, it never does.

On cool, < 40 *, on mine with 20W50, oil pressure has hit 125 psi on initial start for the day on my Autometer gauge. This is not a problem for seals, unless the dowel pin o-rings are already on thier way out. With 10-W30, same conditions, pressure didn't rise above 85 psi. Adding the Lucas seems to raise the psi cold also.

The bypass oil pressure relief valve, the one in the front cove, isset at 125 psi, iirc. You may wish to check the FSM to confirm.

haha ok thanks guys it is set at 125 i was more worried about the motor because it has 210 km on it but it sounds like it wont be a problem before it was only hitting just above 45 at the maximum
