wacky, since no one in the rotary perf. section likes me could you help me with something?
i'm rebuilding an s5 turbo and would like to use fd bearings and pressure regs.
are there any problems with this?
is there anything harmful about oil pressure this high?

Terrible mileage? lol. I only get +/- 200 miles on a full tank.

I havent used a FD bearing but if im not mistaken, the FD bearings are 3 windows already. I only use a 3 window, GSL-SE rotors, modified pre-86 e-shaft and FD ROPR. I havent seen any problems with my motors so I continue to use the same combination over and over. Everyone got their own theory when it comes to building an engine. Pining the rotors? hardened stationary gears? Not everyone will do it. The theory is to salvage as many parts as they can in case of a failure. But IMHO, everything comes down to tuning.

Who cares about gas mileage. we own a rotary. if you want a good mileage, buy a toyota prius or somehting. in fact, just take the bus. but again, there is so substitutue for a fresh smell of unburnt gas in the morning.

Congratulations! You get the annual award for "Most Responses to Own Post" for 2005!!

Nice work.

Seriously, I think your sending unit is bad or you have a short somewhere. Max pressure should be about 100 psi on a stock engine, and that's cold start reving to high rpm (bad combination). The stock gauge is notoriously inaccurate, but your aftermarket gauge doesn't seem to be doing much better. Have a look at that.

You guys just don't know the right tune up procedure to go fast and get good mileage
I get 18.5 on my Se since i ported the induction system and this is just with a catalytic converter bypass pipe and stock manifold. That was acheived at speeds from 25-90mph
city and highway.
I thought it was the smell of burnt cheerios for breakfast in the morning

so no one has had problems with oil pressure being too high?
if the 3rd gen bearings are already 3 window, why do some people run fd bearings in front and then a more expensive racing beat one in back?
some with the pressure regs. everyone seems to recommend a shimmable one out back and an fd up front.
just curious.

My stock 12a gets up to 75-80psi cold and stays at 66psi at cruise, no matter the speed. 20-25 at idle. This is with a mechanical sunpro gauge.

I get the FD ROPR for free and someone posted that they are only $25 from the dealer. much cheaper than spending $80+ from RB one. Mazda made at least 3 different styles. The pre-80 has a removable end cap while the rest are not, but it doesnt mean it cant be modified to obtain a high oil pressure (I've done it).
