oil cooler fittings

Hey,

I'm making lines for my car. I'm using an SE oil cooler to bolt on to my 12a. Does anyone know what size the fittings are? I've read somewhere the someone used -10 AN fittings? Is this correct? also What length works best? If anyone know the picth of htem too that would be great. I think that I read it was 1.5 though can anyone confirm that.

Why don't you get the stock hoses and have the soft part of the lines replaced?

I think he's changing the beehive, is that correct? Can you remove the beehive, then take the ends and the new cooler to a fittings store to find the correct parts, remember its a presurised system.

Hey there,

I'm putting an FC cooler is my SE next week. My stock oil cooler lines are 3 weeks old, but I can't use them any more. I was going to put them on ebay. Let me know if you are interested.

$230 Canadian at Mazda. make me an offer.

Hey,

I'm not interested in buying stock lines ... SS braided lines will only cost me about 70$ to make and thats my plan sorry ... but it would help if you could measure the line ends

I can measure them for you when I take them out. But that won't be for a week or two.

Beware of the SE coolers, they crack! FC Coolers are much better. If you are going to do all that work, you might be best to just get an FC cooler. My 2 cents. My cooler has cracked twice. Or at leasts get a welder to weld up the bosses to give them more strength. I'm sure you already know all of that though.

You will need the adapter kit from mazdatriz. They are only adapters. Mine were 70 shipped and that is with next day mail.

As for the lines just get stainless and press on the fittings.

I am using blue poly high preasure lines, remember one bad thing about stainless, you can't see the condition of the rubber underneath. I don't even use it for brake lines for this reason, especially as it doesn't do anything extra for the money.

humm interesting point for the rubber ... but doesn't the stainless steel cover provide a bit more protection to plus would make the air not dry the rubber as fast. but for now i'm just worried about the size of the fitting. also what angles? I'm assuming straight for the front and 90 for the back

If you can go back and get the lines for the cooler you bought, do it. Then have them refubished with new soft lines, ss if you want. That is the simplest/cheapest option.

Even if you get the adapters for the cooler, you are still going to need at least part of the hard lines and banjo bolts for the engine. For the engine side, you can use the FC or FB ones.

Alright I'm posting this up for future reference for other people

The line sizes are M20 x1.5 pitch for the the longer line that mount ot the engine, where the banjo style is ( i think thats what its called) you'll have to install a male to male adapter to mount like 90 degrees fitting on there
