not until they're made, and we're still sculpting the buck.

The vents are sculpted in. This thing is going to look badass Pics as soon as I can either get my camera to talk to my computer or drag Matt down with his digital cam.

You have NO idea.

6th Ward in New Orleans. THE WORST NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE WHOLE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS.

IN December, a 7 year old girl was shot in the face with a shotgun at point blank range... in my front yard.

In February, there was a gang fight shootout, and 23 people were killed.... all right in front of my house.

In May, the police shot a guy 13 times because he stole a 12pack of beer from the corner store. Where was he shot and killed? in my driveway.

Every night... I have to keep the window a/c unit on, just to drown out the gunshots and shouting matches.

How are you going to do the mounting (hinge) points ?
and the latch ? May i suggest a 'drop-in ' box for the latch . i have made one and it's not to difficult to produce
out of sheet aluminum and then a 2 piece 'pin'. it's strong and theres not tons of stress to crack the underside.. i'll share with you,if you like. think about it.
I have also found that 2 layers of cloth is enough, just make sure the direction of the second layer goes the other direction to the first layer, for strength.

This was covered in the 2 previous threads about these hoods. The hinges, prop rod, and latch points all have metal integrated into the fibreglass to take the stress.

****, if i knew how to put some pictures up, i would.
you guys might be surprized with what i came up with.
the hood has turned out really good and has 4 vents.
the shapes of the vents fit the cars line, IMO
Next i'm going to do a front fender (1st gen ) and see how that goes, i'm also considering a wider type of fender. not as wide as a mariah , like the pacifica adrenalife has. along with the rear graph-on type "flare"
1 inch wide with a duct or scoop that looks just like the way the NXS's side duct is, same shape. screwing around i may have found something here. the composite
thing is expensive, labor intensive, time consumeing, and not forgiving in any way, you screw up, your fucked.
the key is to buy the material in bulk, 55 gal. drums, 5 gal. and roll(s) of the cloth(s), build the moulds so that they last then price the pieces affordable to move them
to make it worthwhile. making a profit, a good profit would mean mass producing, really. i totally understand where you coming from manntis and not every piece that has carbon cloth in it HAS to be baked (cured), it's better if it was, pridictable tolernces. but it's not everything. And me, doing all the work can see, and i've learned by doing the composite 'thing' starting from the ground floor fibre glassing (so far ) a nice touch to do is
during the gel coating(s) is place a makers mark. on a piece of 1 inch by 3/4 inch paper i wrote " fibre glass by mark " and can be seen through the finish, pretty cool. IMO

hey, if your camera is pissin you off....you can buy "disposable digital cameras" from kodak for the same price as a normal throw away...only they give you a photo CD with your pics in JPEG form...

just a thought mantis...a self serving thought, but a thought all the same
