NON-starting SA
Alright I have a 1980 SA 12A stock motor, emmisions removed, replaced starter, replaced battery, replaced spark plugs, replaced Alt., replaced carby. My problem is that my starter wont turn the motor over fast enough to get it to run. And if i put a wrench on the e-shaft hub its really hard to turn. I have compression. I have spark at all plugs. Have no idea why it wont start. Im despret. Its been dead for almost a month and its getting to be really annoying. So if any one has any advice at all let me know ASAP!
My dads Rx-7 used to foul up pretty bad and jumping the car with the battery cables wouldn't help. So I used my car and pushed my dads to start it it took about 3 blocks to get all the crap out of the engine. Once started it ran, for the most part, but it wasn't running right. So I took a closer look and I found at the base underneath the carb some antfreeze on the intake. I took off the carb and redid the intake gasket and the rubber o-rings, the o-rings were shot and the intake was loose. The intake was leaking antifreeze into the motor.
No wonder it was hard to start

first, its got to be flooded by now. pour a cap full of oil (engine oil) in the each secondary barrels, hand crank it for a few minutes, and let it sit over night. the oil will help the engine to build compression. instal fresh spark plugs.
clean battery terminals including the starter end. if you suspect problem with your ignition switch, then by-pass it meaning run a wire from the solenoid and jump it to the battery's + terminal to crank the engine.
be sure to have a fully charged battery and be prepared for a cloud of smoke.
