Unhappy Noises..

I have rattling sounds in the front right of my car and the rear of my car. The rear also sounds like the right. I know I need new bushings and what not for the front. So that problem is pretty well figured out. But I don't know about the back. If it is my jack rattling or somthing else? What else could cause this sound in the rear of the car?

remove the jack, spare tire, etc and drive it to see if it rattles. Its kinda hard to explain sounds. Do you know what a wheel bearing sounds or feels like?

Don't know what a wheel bearing sounds or feels like. My steering is pretty shot. A large pot hole didn't help that much lol. But I will remove the jack and spare and see. Hopefully the car will be comming off the road for the winter. So I will have time to fix it all up.

Check the ball joints, CV joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, u-joints etc., all that **** up under the front of the car. If you have a Haynes manual or shop manual, it will show you how to jack up the front of the car and check the looseness of all the above mentioned parts.

Just out of curiosity, where do you put jack stands at the front of the car? The manual doesn't say - though it does for the rear.

Yea I know what it wrong with the front. I have been under there a few times. I changed the steering box already. S2 I usualy put jackstands under the front cross member but it depends on what I'm doing.

when in doubt and jacking a car, place the jack or jackstands on the beefiest frame component you can find near what you want to do. A crossmember or solid axle is a good place, a floorpan is a lousy, lousy place.

There's really only two decent spots to put ya jackstands under the front end... under the crossmember or under the tension rod brackets.

I find the stock jacking locations work pretty decent for jack stands.... never caved in once...
