No spark in the GSL-SE...
I put my 85 gsl-se back together this spring after sitting all winter with the intake manifolds off.
Anyway, I got everything back together to the best of my knowledge. So the engine turns over as usual, but no spark. I checked the plug against the body while cranking, and no spark. I got new plugs and wires, but with the same outcome.
So I started checking back through the train of electricity. I checked the distributor, but nothing seems to be broken or charred.
The battery has sufficient potential energy, but somehow it is not sending any electricity to the coils. With the key in the ignition, I used a tester on the terminals of both coils, but there is no current. I find it highly unlikely that BOTH coils would die at the same time.
I was looking at the problem with a relative who was over to visit and he tried hotwiring straight from the battery to the coils, but we still tested no current in the coils.
Is there anything that I might not have plugged in correctly that would cause these problems? I find that unlikely, but I'm trying to rule out all possibilities.
So far, the only thing that makes sense is that both coils are dead at the same time. That was kindof long, but any input is greatly appreciated.

Here is a link that shows a diagram of the fusible links. The diagram is at the bottom showing the main fuse.

I didn't check the fuse myself, but the guy who was working with me said he did, and said that it was fine. I should probably check it myself though, to be sure.

1. after checking fuses check fusible links of course 2. make sure ignitors are plugged nice and secure 3. make sure if wiring harnesses were moved that no wires are pinched or broken (very long process) best to get a mazda manual and test connections at the cpu...
4. make sure there are no leaks after the mass aif flow meter...it will not run

There you go Kirk!! try this out ASAP because I think thats your problem. Take the fuses out of your fc or buy ones just like it and replace the fusible links on the -SE in the same spot as the FC has them. If not, I have this week off, We can drink wine in the sand... Oh wait. I can help you out. Goofy *** FC not wanting to run too..

Check the 20amp engine fuse. With the key on, both terminals of each coil should be at battery voltage. Also, both terminals of each ignitor should be at battery voltage as well. There isn't much to the ignition system (coils, ignitors, wiring in beween them). The AFM and CPU (ECU) can cause the car not to start, but would not be the cause of no spark. If the main fusible link was toast, he wouldn't have power anywhere (except headlights, retractors, fuel injectors, and ECU) No interior lights, warning lights, etc.
