No compression
Hi Guys,
I'm new to the forum and new to rotories. So, please excuse me if anything is a little off.....and thanks for viewing my thread.
I just bought an '83 with stock a stock 12a. After reviewing all of the threads i could find on the subject, i am left with a bleak diagnosis.
Compression on my front rotor is good, i think. With either (but not both) spark plugs removed, i have three strong and steady puffs. No difference in sound.
My rear rotor however, has almost no compression. I don't have a guage, but i believe the top plug is spewing about 5-10 pounds (i can block it with my finger). And, the bottom plug is sucking (also able to block with my finger).
I assume this is bad seals, so i have tried the ATF thing. I put only about 8oz in through the brake booster on friday morning and burned it off that night. I also put 12oz of water in yesterday morning while it was running. No smoke blew out of the exhaust this time.
Thanks again and any advise will be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid that it's time for a rebuild. I have a car just like it in the driveway. Fortunately, my wife made me get another RX7.
Rebuilds are cheaper and easier than the piston engine. If you're looking for another engine, I just saw a post either this forum or the Canadian forum for 3 12A's at $400 each. That's a good price.
