New Stereo Install 56k be scared!
Well, many of you have seen my old system and I really like it, but I was bit by the stereo bug and I'm redoing it.
Here are some pics of the old system:

Here its is now:

I use to run all my speakers off the headunit, but I'm upgrading to a badass Alpine 4 channel so I ran all new speaker wires to the rear (kick panels, doors and rears). As you can see it takes alllot of wires to make a system like this happen.
The start of the sub box:

Dry fit of the side panels:

I will be doing a complete fiberglass top to this and have a real nice design in mind. I will be updating everyone as I go along. I hope I can help others at the same time. I should have the basics of the sub box done tomorrow and hopefully some fiberglassing Saturday.

For some reason I had you pictured as one of us 'old guys' with no need for a high end system. Looking good, keep it up. Are you going to dynomat the spare tire well? I'd think you would want to to quiet some of reflected sound.

Gavin, my battery is right under the rack in the storage bin with a 200amp resetable fuse before the battery and 6" from the line to the stereo is another 200amp blade fuse for the system which goes to a 1 farad cap then to the distribution block which is in that picture..

Trochoid, yeah I'm 34, but I grew up in south florida so I was around the bass music and caught the feavor. Oh, the spare tire well will have my other amp and distribution system. The box will be on top, so the sound waves should not affect that area, it never did in previos systems.

Update today:
Started gluing it together

1/2" chuck with a 1/4" rabbiting bit.

Do this all around the box, so when you put your fleece on to fiberglass it will have something to staple to and an easy transition to the box edge.
Positioning the sub:

Hot glued dowels in place once the positon is just right!

Finished position and the basic cutout of the back of the box.

Box placed in it's new home:

Next step is some internal bracing then the fleecing!

I can get the basic internal air space of the box part just with measurements, but to get the actual internal volume when I'm done you use packing peanuts! Thats right, just fill up the box with them then dump them in to a box, take the volume of the box (since is square) and you have internal volume of your enclosure! Height x width x Depth (all in inches) divided by 1728
Thanks for the comments guys! I did some basic math and just using the known frame work and not the space which will be used when I fiberglass, I have 2.69cuft before sub displacement. Much bigger then the 1.85cuft my old box was.
Oh, it helps when you dad was a fine woodworker on luxary boats, wish I would have listen more now!

I answered the PM. I'm using the same carpet again. I love the way it covers all the compound shapes. I have never even thought about painting because I do not have the patience to do all that sanding.
I did not get as much done this weekend as I would have hope for, it was damn cold.
Put in the perminent internal bracing:

I stretched the fleece and used an electric stapler to staple it around. This is why I did that 1/4" rabbit all the way around the box. Now all the material will come up flush to the edge of the wood.

You can see the shape now!

I managed to get to coats of the fiberglass resin onto the fleece material before it got dark:

I'm going to let it harden over night then get a good coat of resin on the interrior edges and seams to seal it up real nice. Next step after that is 5 layers of fiberglass mat and then a nice coat of resin and cabosol mix on the interrior to realy thicken things up.

Well today was a good day. I got 3 coats of mat fiberglass down and it's setting real nice. A couple more then some interrior box work with some cabosol.

I had to make a base plate for the box since the shock mounting plate hump up about 1/4" on each side.

Here she is in her new home:

It will still need alot of sanding then a nice coat of body filler, with more sanding.
I'm taking this Friday off, so I hope to have it up and running by then.
