New fan installed..

Well after waiting almost a month for the driveshaft, new radiator and electric fan to get here I got everything hooked up yesterday. So far its been worth it. I picked up the fan from victoria brittish, and got the adjustable thermostat too, works really well, car doesnt seem to ever go near or above the halfway mark, odd tho, today my car started over heating a hair so I shut er off and poped the radiator cap, all that came out was air, then woosh a bunch of water, put an entire gallon in and its perfect, not leaking, nothing.... I dont think its burning it because if it were burning it at that rate there would be an enormous amount of smoke and nothing... so we'll see where that goes, but id highly recommend getting an electric fan, does wonders!

A whole gallon?!?!?! Thats 4 quarts!! The entire system only holds like 6!!

Maybe that was part of your overheating problem .

if its going through that much and not leaving a puddle or soaking into your carpet from the heater core then its gotta be burning it. But it is odd that your not seeing white smoke everywhere...

You might have just had air trapped in the system and it was forced to the radiator once it was started. I have seen that before on mine as well as other cars.

i feel ya i havve a leak in mine somewhere as well and i cant find it. although i think it is my water pump cause i can see fluid going down the front of the motor.. but my buddy said it looks like my water pump is fine... i dont know i guess i will just replace it and find out. i had a hair-pin hole in one of the hoses coming from the oil cooler to the radiator and i thought that would be it..nope... IT never is IT, is it? and now may master or slave is going... ah the 83 (237kmi.) 7..

Check the heater hose that comes out of the block under/near the oil filter. I had a pressure leak that was quirting back and into the trans tunnel. Really hard to spot.

Ok, update on the imfamous leak here, the lower radiator hose wasnt tight, I tightened it up, leak slowed waaay down, but there is still a tiny little puddle under the front of my car this morning, pulled off the cap rad's still full, I just replaced both heatercore hoses, along with the upper and lower rad hoses with the new radiator and fan, I think, im not sure but I think that its commin from the front cover as it were under the water pump, I mean **** where else could it be commin from, unless my brand spankin new inbox factory radiator has a hole in it already.... I noticed something rather odd tho about the old radiator, the cap hole was much much smaller than the one on the new radiator, any guesses as to why that is? and yes sometimes I dont see any puddles and its still low, but I never see any smoke cept blue cuz I load it down with mmo, but like always this car keeps my guessin
