New bridge port Project

We found this car on craigslist and decided to pick it up because of the great price. It is a 1979 SA22 with a 4-port 13b Bridge port with the Holly racing beat carb. The most fun will be figuring out what is in it, There is a Later Transmission in it with the original drive-shaft. The noises coming from the tunnel is worrying me. we are going to Flat black it and get it ready to do some HPDE's. So far it will be a wiring nightmare with the MSD wiring and the lack of weather proofing but that will get fixed.

Doesn't look pretty? Noob, it looks lovely. It's an SA, has a clean, straight body, painting is 1/2 way done, has a 13B with upgraded carb and ignition, decent S3 seats and extra gauges.

Great staring point for a project. Keep us posted on your progress.

Im not in Boone anymore, I am down in Orlando to learn how to work on crazy Mercedes Benz cars. We are going to make this a class project cars to what some Benz techs can think up.

Right know we need to find a set of Lock cylinders and new ignition with key. I have also heard about that Holly Filter causing problems, is that true? should we change it?

That thing is sweet! I picked up my SA22 in a similar situation. Just put it away and build it up. Good Luck!

Updates:

The Tachometer never worked so we got it running, along with the Volt meter. We have started stripping the rear to repaint. Also started to sand the outside for some nice flat black Primer.

Nice to see some enthusiastic young guys get a hold of a project like this rather than seeing it just get lost in a field.

We have a classmate that worked at a body shop to help us out. it will turn out pretty nice. the Left front fender is the worst spot. We might need another. We also got it legal to drive but registering it and getting a tag finally. This weekend end we hope to finish the interior paint. We have parts on their way from Racing beat and Mazdatrix. the Ball is rolling.

Wassup, Im new to this forum, I just bought this car

Here is the list of things bought so far. all maintenance items:

clutch slave and master
Engine Oil = mobil 1 5-30
Racing Beat Power Pulse Air Filter Assembly
Air Filter k&n
Oil Pan Gasket
battery hold down bracket and bolt

and other few odds and ends at autozone

future plans:

Brake Pads - Hawk Hp plus or Hps
Brake Rotors - Power Slots
Brake Fluid - ATE Super Blue

Street Rollbar - Autopower
Racing Seat - Not sure which one yet, looking for a fixed back seat, suggestions welcome
Harness - Probably schorth 6 point

Tires or Wheels and Tires - still deciding. maybe keep the stock wheel size and get RA1's (205/60/13) Im a little afraid of the thickness of the sidewall tho lol.

thats it for now, there is lots more i would want to do, but it depends on budget.

If anyone can lead us to good stores for these items, feel free to let us know. Or if you have better suggestions for these parts, opinions are welcome.

Thanks

IF you plan on shooting it with primer only and leaving it that way for a while, make sure it's a good primer and sealer. Otherwise just a plain primer will suck moisture out of the air and the body will start rusting under the primer. Once the rust comes through the primer, you'll have lots of sanding and puttying to do to repair it before paint.

If nothing else, buy a cheap single stage urethane and have a flatener added to it. That will give it that flat primered look.
