If you wanna keep the 12a get a dellorto 48mm side draft carb (2 barrell) with a racing beat intake mainfold. racing beat header and then finish the exhaust from there. racing clutch (exedy) do a large street port the 12a, done right right, it should about double the horse power. You can also get a 13b tranny out of a gsl-se. make sure you get the tranny out of the se. you could also find some one to custom make you a short shifter.that's what i did.

you would have to bridge port it to get 200 hp and it wouldnt be that streetable.

if you are new to rotaries you should have someone build you a streetported 84/85 13b, get out your checkbook! it swaps right in. then you need an exaust setup and carb/ intake setup. for the 13b to go in you will also need a new cross member ( no problem). if you do find an se take the disc/posi rearend not the tranny. the tranny is the same as the one you have now just with a higher 5th gear. 200 hp from scratch in a first gen is xpensive, so if you want a nice project
and have time and money go for it, if time and money are an issue you are probably better off buying a car that is already worked out. an even more reasonable goal would be 160 out of your 12a. take off your ac and rats nest get a carb and intake and a rb header and exaust. then do your suspension and youll have a real nice decently fast ride. a $1000- 1500 project right there.
