check the fuel line. Put the fuel line going to the carb into a bucket. Turn the key to on and make sure the fuel is properly being pumped out.

If you have a clear fuel filter in the engine bay it should be atleast halfway full before starting the car.

But yes, check the fuel system, probably a line or the filter is bad.

Start by turning the idle screw in (increasing idle speed) until the engine will run, then adjust the idle mixture from there. There is a nice writeup by Sterling in the FAQ section that will walk you through the process.

Guy's, you can't give proper diagnosis until you have the whole story.
Things like, was it running fine and this just started.
Did you just buy the car and just got it to run but it won't idle?
Did you just rebuild the carb and this happened?
Did you change out the water o'rings on the manifold and this just started to happen?
Was the car running fine but it was stored for awhile and no it won't start without starting fluid and it won't idle.
Is it a 84 or 85 model? Is the trailing ignitor working?
Does it have the stock fuel pump? If it's anything but a 84-85 model, do you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the key to the on posistion?
On and on and on and on and on and on and on and on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also there is no fuel filter there is a 5/16s fuel line to the carb.Should i put one in because i have one?

midnightrx7,

For your own good man, please click here:

Nomex Flame-Resistant Suit

Also, you may not have a fuel filter in the engine bay, but I bet you have one under the car near the fuel tank.
