I bought my first RX-7 today. Its a 1980. There are a couple of things that I would like get straightened out with it, but am new to the RX's. I would love some advice as to what might be wrong.

1. Steering wheel has alot of play the car "floats" while driving I know that the ball joints are shot but unsure if that is the only problem

2. Transmission has a whirring / grinding noise in 1st and 2nd gears in acceleration and downshifting. ???

3. Popping noise coming from right rear area of the car on acceleration and deceleration. ???

4. Car shudders just a little at 2-6k rpm ???

5. Rattling noises coming from behind radio and glovebox area???

Any help would be great.

 

1. the car is 28 years old......the bushings are probly shot and steering box and linkage might need some love.

2. my tranny on my 85 SE has a whirring noise and i cant remember if its the throwout or pilot....anyhow i havnt had any problems and its a cheap fix

4. could be timing fuel again more details.....

5. take out the stereo there is a bolt back behing all that tighten it......
