RB Seat re upholstery kit Install
Does anyone have any experience with the kit from Racing Beat or upholstery experience in general ?
I have bought the kit and am now in the middle of installing them. Its proving to be a real bitch. They are so freakin tight I cant get them around to where you hog ring them.
Any advice/help would be appreciated
Thanks
Dave.

I've heard they are easier put on when warm. Do you have the seats inside where its nice and
warm?
I'd be interested in any information on them as to ease of install, fit and finish, etc. Maybe post
some pics up while your doing it? I've never seen a thread on installing them yet.

Also as for where the seats go way down in a groove I have no idea if Im supposed to clip that in or not. I dont see how its possible with the pliers and clips.

I had some leather covers from leatherseats.com for my 2nd gen and to avoid the same frustration you are having I took them to an auto upholsterer to do. $75 each seat and they look perfect . unless you need the money for food or rent , or hate to pay other people for things , Id get a pro to do it .

Yes, the deep pleats are supposed to be hog-ringed to the bottom springs. They should have wire reinforcements running along the bottom of them - or at least pockets for the reinforcing wires.
Never used the RB kit. Made my own upholstery a couple times now over the years.

I'll dig up what shots I have of the last time I worked on the seats, & current condition. I last did them about a decade ago, just barely starting to show some wear & fade.
I've actually got a pair of tired 80 highbacks parked in the garage waiting for me to re-do them, too. Haven't decided if I'm going back to factory black with them, or sticking with the current red/grey schema I've got on the FB seats currently in the car.
