Name that steering wheel!

OK, here's one I'd never seen before.

I found this on ebay a few days ago, it arrived today. $29 plus $12.94 shipping = $41.94 total, not bad!

It looks to be an S1 or S2 (1979-1983) leather covered 4 spoke steering wheel, which are common enough.

(I already have one in black leather, although most of the S1/S2 4 spokes I've seen don't have the leather covering).

But this one has BROWN leather! (and it's in great shape for an original leather covered S1/S2 wheel)

Here's an ebay pic, followed by three more I took today:

Has anyone every seen one of these before or know which model SA or FB they came in?

Robert Watson wins the Prize, which is a Beehive oil cooler out of an 85 GSL in excellent condition.

Robert's sharp eye recognized the steering wheel as coming from a 1980 LS with the brown leather interior.

Here's a link he gave me for proof:

Good to see it has the black horn button, I have some of these to complete the wheel.

Nice catch Ray-!
LS wheel an approximation of the SA Crown Jewel:
JDM Limited Tan Leather St wheel with Silver spokes....
Here on the cover of the JDM 79 brochure.
JDM car had delish matching tan leather shift ****, whereas curiously, with a whole tan interior, the LS came with a Black ****!

Thanks for the info Stu!

I think what this means is that natural brown leather is the purist of the pure for the true purist.

I notice that that JDM 79 model has a brown horn button, anybody got one of these for sale?

If it has a brown horn button let's talk James, I've got a shed full of parts you might be interested in!

It's OK if it has those silver spokes too.

I just want any replacement wheel. I don't like driving a car with a pair of vise grips

I remember that time you showed up at an OGTA meeting with a vise grip on your steering column and a horn button wired under the dash.

I've got a wide selection of 3 spoke S3 steering wheels for you to chose from, a big upgrade from those old fashioned 4 spokes.

Also, for an S1 brown leather unit with a brown horn button and silver spokes I could even throw in a 12A.

If anybody doubts the existence of the Rotary Gods, let me ease your apostasy.

Look what I just snagged on ebay:

Yes, that's right. It looks to be a brown S2 4 spoke horn button.

The Rotary Gods have spoken and it is Good.

I'll post pics when it gets here.

you better hand that over to me for inspection.

Also, don't you need the matching leather shift **** now as well?

Ray,

You need to conduct a "how to search e-bay" course at DGRR this year.

I look everyday and never seem to run across the gems you find regularly.

I must be doing something wrong!!

If you have a photo of an S1/S2 brown leather covered shift **** in its native environment, yes I need one.

And that brown leather LS steering wheel will be a perfect accent to the mint maroon interior that's in the 83 LE.

Open your mind Tim, the thing is going to pop. Think brown leather in place of that black plastic:

A perfect addition to the pair of mint maroon leather 83 seats I snagged on ebay for $50 a few years ago.

Trump is a false profit, all Praise the Rotary Gods.

It's easy Robert, do your searches at 4 am.

Incidentally, I snagged that one-of-a-kind brown S1 horn button for $13, not bad for a piece of unobtanium.
