N\A 12a potential
a lot of peopel will say that a 12a can really hold its weight in performance, but i want to know how much u could get out of a sp. theres been threads stating around 200+ and others around 150. i want an agreed hp range. lets say wait judge ito's SP and the best of every other supporting item (like carb, FP, FPR, trans, etc)

No one has dynoed Ito's sp on a 12A that I know of. Other sp porting templates have dynoed 140-150 rwhp. Since fwhp is listed as 101 factory, that's more than a 50% increase when taking drivetrain losses into account, indicating somewhere in the neighborhood of 165-175 fwhp.

im really debating on a 13b swap or a rebuild\SP on my engine right now. im not really sure wats going to be cheaper either. i kinda seems like its going to cost the same. but id have for hp and torque out of hte 13b, but it would take longer swap in. it would be easier to rebuld and port my 12a, but its still going to be costly with the carb upgrade. its an endless cirle for me.

love the braaaap
Thats a pretty low torque number you have there Weed Wacker. But nice power.
If your going for drivability, the 12A will do the job, but a S5 13B converted to carb will net you probably the same gains, if not more, for the same price, and it will be completely driver friendly.

an s5 is alsso going to be harder for me to get. its basicly falling between availabitly for me. i would love a 4 port s5, and the idea of efi is nice, but theres too much electrical issues for me to want to deal with. carb would be awesome, but if i ever put a turbo setup on, ill wish i had the efi. i guess i just need to stop putting in all these ifs and just do somethin. haha

I am a firm believer in working with what you have.
And with you living in northern Indiana, if you want someone else to do your port work, you may want to see if you can get ahold of Chuck in Fort Wayne.

It cost me about 2500 dollars or so including all materials for the exhaust, buying the muffler, clutch, air filter, jets, all the parts to rebuild the motor the right way, etc. But i did all the work myself, so i might not be a good example , lol sorry.
But the car is very driveable still, which is why i didn't go bigger with the porting, just enough to make me smile while still being able to still be easy to drive, and able to run in the cold winters of chicagoland (when the weather isn't being retarded)!

There is a member here on rx7club, his user name is Derek King. Last I knew, they were room mates. You may send him a pm asking if Chuck will still do port work.
If you want to find his name easily, go to the midwest section and look in the Fort Wayne social gathering thread on the last few pages.
