Muffler

I need to fix my muffler to pass inspection, My muffler is not in bad shape except that the twin tips are rotting. The rest of the muffle and attaching pipes are fine. I don't want to spend $256 for a racing beat when the current muffler is sold and I doubt want to get a Advance Auto OEM replacement. What universal muffler such as a Dynomax or Flowmaster could I use insatead?

I spent the money on an RB muffler, and have zero regrets. A rotary will tear up the cheap universal mufflers.

Contrary to that belief, the stock muffler does flow reasonably well. Two feet worth of catalytic convertors are what really quiets down the car.
That's why when they are replaced with a straight pipe you'll get the single biggest power modification and a raspy loud exhaust tone with the stock muffler.

I replaced my setup with two Borla "turbo" mufflers after a thread that was on here. The Borlas are high quality, straight through, deep rumble noise, and you can get them in a 2.25" size so you can get them to hook up with your stock exhaust.

I love them.

High quality being the operative words.

Like driftfb said, the borla is awesome. I haven't got one yet but i'll be getting one sooner or later. They have a great tone and are high quality

Mufflers

Could I just remove the muffler and install a twin tip resonator?
