AT to MT swap - Neutral Saftey Switch Bypass

Wondering if anyone has done this swap and can explain how to bypass the Neutral Saftey Switch. Is there some wiring to be done? Or is it not even necessary to start the car?

Thanks in advance

I thought someone posted the wiring diagram in your other thread here: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...t-car-1158032/

You might want to get the factory wiring diagram here and review this circuit. Foxed.ca. Knowing how to read a wiring diagram teaches so much. It's a good skill to have.

Yeah, I saw that but my wire diagram reading is very elementary at best. What I can see from that photo is that if I route a wire from the black and white (BW) to the black and red (BR) it should effectively bypass the switch. Is that correct?

I would just get the manual trans wiring harness and use that.

The problem with that is that I can’t find one to save my life they are sold out everywhere I look.

I'd just use the wiring diagram and make my own. It's only like 4 wires.

Working

So after several days of scratching my head I finally got this done. At first when I was trying to bypass the Neutral Safety Switch I thought if I shorted out the two wires then that would work but the starter would not engage or even turn on. At that point I thought the starter might be bad so I took it to an auto parts store and it tested good. What I noticed when they tested it out is that they had the two thick wires connected to the terminals on the solenoid and then they had the smaller wire or the Trigger Wire. I didn't have this on my car as it was connected to the Neutral Safety Switch which is bolted to the automatic tranny. What I ended up doing is running a wire from the BY (Black with Yellow Stripe) from the auto wiring harness to the little wire connector on the starter and that effectively bypassed the Neutral Safety Switch and allowed my car to start.

PLEASE NOTE - If you decide to do this make sure you always start it in neutral or with the clutch in. The car will start in gear if you try to and that will hurt your transmission.

In the future I plan on wiring this into my clutch switch so that it doesn't start unless I have the clutch pressed in so I don't accidentally start it in gear.

Thanks for all the help
